Story and Comments.: I saw this buck tending a doe at about 8:30 in the morning on opening day. He was at about 80 yards and in some pretty heavy brush. I passed on him, but held tight in my stand thinking he might reappear at a closer distance, since the wind was in my face. He did not reappear. I came out of my stand at about 2:00 p.m. and was back in at 3:00. I saw him again at 4:00 in the same brushy area. I still didn' like the shot, but decided to take it as he was standing pretty still next to the doe. He only went about thirty feet as I later found out I hit him center in the heart. His inside spread measured 23 1/2 inches.
