Story and Comments.: On the 27th, I hunted the edge of a clear cut toward the end of the rut and the 8 point came to within 50 yards of me. I shot him with my Browning 7mm and he ran about 35 yards. Then, on the 29th I climbed a tree over a scrape on a hillside in the woods across from a lake. I spotted a couple of does running from left to right so I started grunting. The 9 point came right up the hill to within 12 yards of my tree. The shot with my Marlin 30-30 was almost straight down and he didn't go far! Wow what a way to end the season! I'm definitely keeping my taxidermist in business!
