Story and Comments.: 2004 Pa 8pt (bottom): During "post season" scouting in the winter of 2003/04, I found a hard to access bench on the Game Lands I hunt. The first day of rifle season, I walked 1 1/2 hrs. up and over the mountain to my new found deer magnet. At about 7:00 am, five baldies and this 8pt. came running on to the bench. They stood there long enough for me to anchor my first 8pt. buck from the Game Lands in 18 yrs. of hunting there.
2004 Va 9pt. (top): My brother-in-law, a friend and I spent three days chasing whitetails in Augusta County, Va on National Forest land and Little North Mountain WMA nearStaunton, Va.. On the last day of our hunt, I returned to a area I found the first day that was tore up with fresh scrapes. At about 7:50, my brother-in-law shot a spike buck and ten minutes later a hot doe got this respectable 9pt. in trouble. My 30.06 did the job and dropped the big boy at 70 yds.. The 8pt. from Pa field dressed at 160 lbs. at 2 1/2 yrs. old and the 9pt. field dressed 165 lbs. at 3 1/2 yrs. old.
