Story and Comments.: It was my first time hunting on this property and at first light I had 3 doe below me no less than 20 feet away from me. My scent blocker suit musta worked cause they didnt spook that close with the wind going toward them. 30 mins. goes by 2 of them moved off bout 80 yrds away. I was watching the one below me still when just out of my view I spotted movement. Like a rookie I looked and saw the antlers. Without thinking I moved to get a shot. I spooked the one below me but it didnt faze this others. The buck was interested in the does and the does were looking toward where my buddy was hunting from. This buck was in a hurry so I grunted at him. He stopped I fired, "missed" reloaded he started to run at me. I pointed right in the middle of his chest below his white patch and fired again. I could tell he was hit that time. I watched him run off to my left and dissapear into a pine patch. My buddy was close to it and he headed over that way, I told him I was on my way down and all of a sudden a rampage of shots. I walked toward where i last saw my deer and he was no more than 30 yrds into the pines. My buddy said he was getting up so he shot at it. HE MISSED. 5 shots at 30 yrds with a semi shotgun. lol This was a fun hunt and I got my second 8 point. My first northern Tier deer/buck.
