Year of Harvest: 2002

Story and Comments.: It was November 8, 2002 and I was in my stand at about 4:30. All morning I was hearing deer under me and all around me. At about 5:45 a buck ran behind me, crossed a creek, and went into some thicket. I grunted him out at about 5:55 and he walked right towards me. He got to my opening and turned to walk away, so I grunted him back again. He took two steps further this time, but turned away again. So I grunted two more times and he trotted into my opening. He gave me a 14 yard shot and I produced sticking him through the heart. I never focused on the rack once I caught a glimpse of the main beams, but I knew he was decent. What a surprise when I found him 40 yards down the fence row. He weighed in at 283 lbs and field dressed at 234 lbs, He's an 11 pointer that green scored 130 7/8. I shot him with a Jennings Buckmaster Compound Bow, Easton 2117 arrows, and 125 grain 3 blade muzzy broadhead. Not bad for my first season bowhunting and my first deer ever.
