Story and Comments.: I was able to bring down this six point at 7.23am. I had seen several nice bucks from my tree-stand in archery season but not this six point. When I went up on the hill to put my tree-stand up, (2 days before opening day of rifle season) I wasn’t sure if I should put my stand where I was hunting the last days of archery or another area where I had seen some other large bucks. My decision was difficult. I decided to go and scout a little to see where I should hunt opening day. My first stop was the archery spot noted above. As I walked into the area where I had spent the last days of archery I couldn’t help but think about the nice eight point I had well in bow range just a few weeks ago. And the big eight point that ran past my stand just minutes later chasing and doe with another small buck following. As I continued to scout I noticed a very nice buck feeding off to my left. I was very excited and I reached for my camcorder and the impressive buck spotted me a bolted away. That’s it I thought to myself I hunt here for opening day of rifle season which was two days away. As the first light started to come over the hill opening morning I had already began to question my decision to hunt here. I had seen several hunters on ATV’s riding on the path down the hill from me (talking very loud). Soon those loud hunters and ATV’s would no longer matter. As I looked on from my tee-stand I had spotted movement in the thick briars. I saw that this buck was not the big eight point I was hoping for but he was well worthy of my 30.06. I squeezed off a shot and down he went.
