Year of Harvest: 2001 Time of Harvest: 7:05 Story and Comments.:
The year started out as a bleak one. We lost our home along with everything in it to a fire. So when hunting season came, it was like starting over again. All of our trophies that we hunted so hard for were gone. Now we had to look for new ones. My husband got a gobbler in the spring, and I got one in the fall. Archery season came and my husband got his buck. I didn't go out for archery. With just getting a new bow, I didn't have time to practice. Deer season came, and on the first day at dawn. My father-in-law got his buck, and shortly after his doe. I sat all day and didn't see anything. The second day, my husband got a doe in the morning and again, I sat all day and saw nothing. Day 3- Wednesday Morning: Went to our usual spot and saw nothing. So we decided to try another spot. My husband was going to take a walk into the woods to try and move deer toward me. Just after he started into the woods, he had spotted a trophy 9-point. But because he had already taken his limit, he had no gun and could not shoot another buck. So he came out of the woods motioning for me. I started into the woods where he had seen the buck, but when we got there, he was GONE! At this point, figuring that we had scared him away and that he was long gone, we started down through the woods when suddenly, we spotted him lying down just a few yards away from where he was first seen. Slowly he lowered his head and laid his ears back in a feable attempt to hide. With my Winchester stainless model 70 .30-06, I pulled up and shot my trophy white tail. On the first Saturday at 7:05AM, I also harvested my doe with a single shot .
