Story and Comments.: I was hunting public land in Centre County and had never taken a deer with more than 7 points. Around 9am i heard shooting behind me in the the thick laurel and you could hear the many shots around the top of the mountain as a group of deer was running the tops. I counted eleven shots from a variety of different hunters as the deer rounded the last ridge where i was at. I saw two doe step out of the laurel and then this buck. I dropped the buck with a lower neckshot in his tracks. Then another 8 point came walking out from behind the laurel and walked up to the down buck and sniffed it. My father was hunting to my left and i was hoping the deer would go to him. However the deer conitnued down the mountain heading towards posted land. Out of the 6 deer i saw, 3 were bucks, two 8 points and a spike. This was the last deer i took at this spot after buying a cabin in the sproul state forest. Despite the deer populations down in Sproul, there are lots of big bucks if you can find them. The two other bucks were shot in 2003 and 2004 in Sproul. The bear was shot during bear camp 2006 in Sproul. Hope you like the pics..
