I started off on a evening hunt about 12:30. Around 2:50 I looked to the left and in front of me at about 45 yards away were about 6 or 7 does. They were headed towards me but off to my left. I looked behind the pack of does and could see another deer coming. At first all I could see was his rack. I could tell it was a real good buck. I was thinking and hoping he would continue to follow the does which would provide me a great shot. Then I thought all was lost when the does spooked (most likely from my scent from where I had walked in 2 hours earlier). The deer turned and headed back in the direction they came from. After a couple of minutes they turned back and headed the way they were before they spooked. Great I thought to myself. Bad news no sign of the buck. I was upset to say the least! I figured he slipped out when the does spooked back. Then he came back in view. He came in to about 25 yards. He turned broad side to me. Picture perfect shot! There were a few small holly trees between us but I could see plenty of his body. I had my gun up already and put it right above his shoulder. I pulled the trigger and he just dropped. After seeing he was down with a good shot I turned to my left and 1 doe remained standing there as the others took off. She was about 35 yards broadside as well so I took her as well. The buck was a nice 10 pointer with a 22 in. spread. I must say that a good friend of mine spotted this buck 3 times earlier in the year. On three different occasions. However he didnt give him the great shot he gave me. Keep after him Walls you will get the big boy. THANKS JASON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
