Story and Comments.: My dad and I spent opening morning puttin miles on our boots, stillhunting and soing small silent drives in our usual stomping grounds. we decided to take an early lunch, on account of not seeing hide nor hair of a deer, and near tropical weather. we hiked back to the truck and drove home to eat. I had a sandwich waiting in the fridge, i told my dad that i would eat and run back out quickly. I figured by the time i would get back in the woods other hunters would be coming out for lunch and might push some deer around in doing so. I wanted to be there to capitalize on that. I decided to take my climbing stand and go back to a secluded ridge above an old logging road that other hunters use for access to the area. My dad was to eat his lunch and then stillhunt/silent drive his way back to my location. as i drove the truck back up the dirt road to the access point i saw a deer with antlers about 70-80 yards off the road to my right, i didn't even stop to look at him, i just pulled about 100yds up the road and grabbed my vest and rifle. i crossed the road walked into the woods and loaded my rifle. ibegan to walk towards where i had seen the deer, as i walked i expected the deer to spook and move. i kept looking for movement but saw nothing. i stopped and began to scan up the hill, then i realized the deer was standing perfectly still and in the exact spot as when i had seen him from the road. he was only 40 yds away broadside. he turned his head slightly and i could see that he had at least three pts on one side and that was it.
