Story and Comments.: The opening day of the rifle season in Ky 2002,started on Nov 09th.I was hunting with my nephew Josh in Trimble county Ky.Opening morning started out with a strong wind and stayed windy all day.We went to stands like any other opening day.A vigil of 40 minutes had past when I spotted a deer on the other side of the hollow I was watching. The deer turned and started comeing my way.It was at that point I saw I was a buck.He crossed the creek and came up the hill towards me.He stopped a fed on acorns along the way.Because a deer comeing sraight at you is a hard shot,I let the deer keep comeing up the hill.At about 60yrds out he turned and started walking at an angle. At about 40 or so yrds I had a clear shot and I took it.He turned out to be a big bodied perfect 8pt.That eve I placed my nephew in the saw stand, right before we lost shooting light he dropped a good doe.Monday moring found us back in our stands,it was a picture perfect day.I saw allot of wildlife that morning. The 1st deer I saw was a spike buck at around 0940 or so.Since Ky has a one buck rule I just watch the buck.About 15 minutes later a doe with 2 other deer appeared in the same spot as the 8pt did.I had a clear shot at her and took it,the range finder told me 108yrds. The next morning Josh and I hunted next to eachother in the same spot.He watched one way and I looked the other. At around 0830 he shot a young deer,we both saw it go down.As we talked softly I saw another deer standing in the woods about 60 yrds out.I had a clear shot so I took it.Turned out Josh's deer was a button buck and the deer I shot was the doe,the buttons mother. We were there thankful,We had been blessed with a good time together and a good hunt, everybody in the family had meat.So we thanked God and relaxed .
