Anyone know why fall turkey is closed for both 5a and 5b? Is it always, or just this year for a reason?

I read on on PGC website that it is due to the low population levels in these areas.

Fall turkey season is always closed in 5A and 5B. In fact I think i've heard it is only open for the first weekend in the spring. I go up to the camp for spring gobbler and I archery hunt in the fall.

Thanks...yeah I thought about going out for fall and saving myself a trip to the mountains until I found that out....thanks alot!

i turkey hunted for the first time this year. it is always closed in the fall for 5b but spring is fair game all season. i cant wait for the first morning when i hear that gobble. there is nothing like it.

Has been closed for years. I look for it to open up sometime though. The population of birds is really coming back well. Seeing lots of birds around.
