Lots of turkeys in this area, They are always scratching at the bare soil in the cedar woods to the right of the picture.

I tried rattling tonight and 5 minutes later I had a group of turkeys come in... not really what I was going for.

Didn't get to hunt as much as I would have liked. Opening weekend the high-narrow racked buck that I had on my trail camera was seen by a friend that was hunting at the property while I was in Northern Wisconsin. He let him go in favor of taking two does.

My cousin hunted with me when i got back from Northern Wisconsin. He had never shot a deer before so I tried to set him up in the best stands. Very little was moving, we had high winds and most deer were nocturnal by the middle of the firearm-season. He ended up getting a buck fawn, not exactly what I like to see, but I was happy for him. Next time he knows to be a little more careful. I passed on some does because we already had 5 taken on the property.

I saw 4 antlerless deer in Northern Wisconsin on public land and I saw 1 buck and 4 antlerless deer at our property. Friends on opening weekend saw 3 different bucks (two mature and one large yearling), and several doe groups on the property.

I took some pictures out of one of my stands. In the distance you see the river coming towards the stand after a big bend. To the left is a big bedding area thick with tamarack and red-osier dogwood. Behind me is a open cedar woods that they do not like to use. To the right is another thick bedding area. The cedar woods and river make for a nice funnel to traffic movement between the two bedding areas. Great spot for seeing bucks.
