Yeah, I was using Muzzy broadheads. Muzzy 100 grain 3 blade broadheads. I agree. I should've waited for a lung shot. And I knew it. But I wanted that first deer so badly that I made a poor choice. I won't do it again. And I got out of my stand too quickly. Only waited 25 to 30 minutes Again, I wanted to recover my first deer. I screwed up. I won't do that again either.

Don't beat yourself up. Sometimes the best way to learn is make a mistake or two. Trust me I would know.

I also am using Muzzy 125 grain. But I am now in the market for a reliable expandable broad head. I have a few in mind. But am waiting until next year when I can test them out and make sure they don't affect my arrow flight.

I will be out all day tomorrow and I am feeling good about the signs. Last thee years I have killed my buck between Nov 2-6th. Love the rut. Makes for some fun while sitting in the stand.

I am also going out here in an hour or so Dirty. Packing my stuff now. I am hoping to get my shot before 4pm so I dont have to track in the dark. Good luck today....

Didn't have to worry about tracking after dark. I didn't see diddly. Except some turkeys. I heard deer all around me, but every time I turned and looked, the deer must have ran off and there was a squirrel or chipmunk there.

I had almost the exact thing happen to me only I knew I had a good shot. I just didn't wait long enough for the deer to die and ended up pushing ( I learned later) it until the blood trail ran out. It really sucks, but lesson learned. Next time I WILL wait!
