It has been 10 years since I last hunted. This will will be my first season since antler restrictions have taken affect. I will be hunting in a 3 points per side WMU. I am a little confused about the brow tine.

A buck with two points on the top with a greater than 1 inch brow tine is legal. What about a buck with three points up top with no brow tine? Or a buck with three points up top with a less than 1 inch brow tine?

I guess I am asking, does a buck need a brow tine if there are enough points up top to meet the 3 point limit?

Thanks
oldzimm

If you are in a 3 point on one side restriction WMU and you see a buck with 3 points on one side that are at least 1 inch long, you can put the buck in the freezer, a buck don't need a brow tine to be legal. (if you are counting the brow tine as a point it has to be at least 1 inch)

Here is something that some might find interesting and if my interpretation is wrong, somebody please correct me.
According to the book the main beam can count as a point, regardless of length.

I would say yes because the main bean HAS to end in a point. The only scenario I can think of that it wouldn't is if it's broken off at the intersection of the first tine in.
