i was wandering so many hunters use the big caliber rifles and i wanted to know if you had to use a 308,7mm08 or a 243 which one would you use, i personaly like the 7mm08 i own one my self

I would take the 243....I had one a few years back. I now use a 257 Roberts and really like it also.....I am partial to the smaller calibers. i don't know why but I always had good luck with them.

i have a 243 and 7mm08 and they are both great but i like the 243 a little better

There is absolutley no question but that I would choose the 7mm-08.

I have a savage .243 and a remington model 700 .308
I am seriously thinking of the 7mm08 or a .260.

Can anyone give me some info between the two.

Out of the 243,,7mm-08,,or 308, the 7mm-08 wins hands-down...It's a better varmint rifle than the 308 and a better deer rifle than the 243...Some will argue that the 308 is available in a 180 gr. bullet but who really needs a 180 for anything in Pa.? And if I decide to go for elk I'll sure want something bigger than a 308 ! The 7mm-08 was designed for deer and that is where it shines..Nothing more is really needed.......Ken

gotta be the .308 for me. Very versatile cart. Could use this in a variety of locations and feel good about it...

I was hoping to find a post like this I used a savage .243 I just bought last January for the past deer season and absolutely love it. and now I am looking into getting the savage 7mm-08 so I'd like to hear more about what people feel about the 7mm-08. Thanks In advance.

first of all i like all three guns...def good taste..I shoot a 7mm-08 and my dad shoots a .308..anyway a 7mm-08 is basically just a necked down 308 as i'm sure you already know. I think you can get a little more range and velocity out of a 7mm-08 but who really needs it in pa. Although i love my 7mm-08 i find myself limited on the bullets i can buy unless you plan on reloading. In the .308 thats not much of a problem. As for the .243..ehh..i'd just go with one of the 08's but to each is own. Overall i think the .308 would be the best strictly because you have a lot more room to experiment with different factory loads. Plus i think they're a little more versatile if you ever plan on going for something bigger than deer.
