270 bdl I'm a 10 point buck on this forum.
My next goal is to become a 11 Pointer.

Do any of you fellas use 130 gr silvertips in your 270? I have some as components that I got from my Dad. I thought it was a nice looking bullet and was wanting to try them. Anyway I bought a box of factory loads with the 130 gr. silvertip and they shot less than .5 inch groups. My question i guess is how do these bullets work on deer? Do they make a lot of bloodshot meat?

Copy..paste that web...Thats what i use..Hornadys 130 sst Light Magnum loads. They acheive Muzzel volicity speeds upto 3215 fps. Incredible ammo. Turns an ordinary 270 into a magnum. |

.............ehh...i mean just click on the web site..Check out ballistics for the Light magnums.
With this ammo..there no need for one to buy magnum caliber guns. My 30/06 is just as powerful as a 300 win mag..with this ammo. |

that's exactly what i use for my .270. They work great for deer.

Younghunter, I found a web site - www.wisconsincartridge.com that has 270 cal. 130 gr. silvertips for $46.25 a hundred. I'm going to get some at that price. I don't think I can load them that cheaply.

wow... nice deal. I wouldn't pay the extra money for the Hornady loads like Ghost does. It doesn't make sense to me, the factory .270 loads will take down a white-tail out to 300 yards with no problem. Your own personal shooting skills are more of a limiting factor than the gun or the bullet.
