Welcome labuke!! Your from my "area"....I grew up in the Lehigh Valley, now live in Schuylkill County. I have a couple suggestions for you. I'm all too familiar with hunting around Trexler Game Preserve.....DAMN CROWDED!!! Keep goin' north my friend

...... take Rt. 309 north to the Blue Mountain. At the base of the Blue is the southern portion of SGL #127. This Game land is pretty expansive and rugged. I would suggest two areas for getting away from the crowds and seeing deer: One would be just at the base, park, then hike northeast toward the top of the mountain. The further you can get up that "little" hill the better. You will also notice that at the base and to the East are agricultural fields. You should find deer in this area and while the walk in might be brutal, dragging downhill is the reward!! The second area to consider is over the mountain into Schuylkill County. I would park on the north side of the mountain where the game lands end or thereabouts. You will note when looking at the map, there is a hollow coming up the mountain to the west of Rt. 309. You could park where I mentioned and then walk in a southwest direction "up" the mountain and above the hollow. I have been to this SGL, like I said it's pretty rugged and it does get hunted pretty hard (in rifle season)but, not NEARLY as hard as around Trexler Game Preserve!! Most of the other hunting pressure (in rifle season) will come from the parking area's on top of the mountain where the Appalachian trail crosses Rt.309. There's a parking lot on the east side of Rt. 309 and many a hunter parks at the resteraunt to the west of the highway. It should take you in the neighborhood of 30-40 minutes of drive time to reach this SGL. Study the maps of the area and take a trip sometime....it can't hurt. Hope I helped and good luck!! Let me know what you think after checking it out. I realized that you were looking for a archery spot, so, I edited my post with (in rifle season). I have seen a truck here a truck there in archery season but, overall, the hunting pressure is pretty light. You shouldn't have a problem running into many or any hunters if you walk in a bit' from Rt. 309.
