My uncle is selling me his compound bow for $300. It's 60lb draw weight and it has a scope and balance and all that on it. I went over there to shoot it yesterday and was hitting the target pretty good from 40 yards away... but consistantly at 30yds. I want to go bag me a deer...but how do i get started? I have a hunters safety but how do i get a permet, where do i go to hunt, ect. I'm 16 by the way and want to hunt asap...i like bowhunting because it looks like more of a challenge i want to get a buck if thats matters... a big one [Razz]

hey ks, I am going to tell you huntin is not as easy as it looks. First off you cant just walk into the woods expecting to get a deer everytime. If you are, you are going to be very fusterated. I hunted 2 days a total of 24 hours and did not see deer with in bow range. If you have the desire to sit and wait for hours at a time then bow hunting is for you. I have learned a lot from this site. Where are you planning to hunt?

thanks for replying... yea ive heard this one before... all my friends are all about taking the easy way and told me that bowhunting is just way to boring but i knew it was going to be like that.... just and and the woods is what i want to go into it for.... honestly if i never get a deer i dont care but when u get a permet is it just one zone you can hunt in like rifle? or 2? if 2 zone 16 and 17 in ford county which is north of my town

thanks for the reply [thumbup]

Actually....You will find Bowhunting more easier then rifle hunting. I find it much easier to kill mature Bucks.

Rifle hunting is a roll the dice thing...its a crap shoot..However..Bowhunting..You can hunt the deer the entire season unlike Rifle season..where they are spooked so bad they wont move.

Bowhunting is much easier then rifle hunting.

WHAT!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Bow hunting EASIER than rifle hunting. What type of halucigentic substance are you on today?????

Anyone can whack a buck at 120 yards with a high powered rifle. Getting within shooting range of ANY deer and closing the deal is either plain dumb luck or skillful mastery.

Ghost: if you want to yank chains, then yank chains. But... when you make coments like these you not only make yourself look rather foolish, but you disrespect all who use this forum as you insult the intelligence of anyone who visits this board.

I really dont know what you are talkin about with "zones". Here in pa there are wmu. or Wildlife management unit. I dont think you could get any more doe tags where you are, but when you buy your lisence you get a buck tag, wich you can bag any buck in any area in pa. hope this helps. (all of this info is in the book they give you when you purchase your hunting licence.)
