Fine checkering and non basket weave makes it an ADL
If the serial number starts with an A - it is post 1975
$500 is kind of high for a used Gamemaster.
Usual price is around $350.00 and trade in value at Grice Gun Shop is usually around $175.00
The gun shop is a lot like those reality tv shows where pickers and pawn shop owners buys items for half of what it is worth and then tries to resell it at retail value.
If it was $350 and in really nice shape - I might be interested in it.
Two years ago, I could have bought a Mint Condition BDL Deluxe 760 Gamemaster with vintage Redfield Widefield scope for $450 and did not buy it because I already had two of them.
It's hard to replace a gun that has killed over 100 deer with a gun that you have never shot before and at my point in life there is no longer any reason to have 2 of anything. I already have one ADL 30-06 - my dad's with a Redfield Widefield and my BDL Deluxe 30-06, a BDL Deluxe .270 Winchester 760 and a .ADL stocked Model 6 with a Leupold scope that I know I couldn't get $500.00 for it and it is two guns put together to make one gun that I always wanted..
I probably have twice that amount into it.
